Tyrone Joe Staff Photo

I attended Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ (GO SUNDEVILS!) and majored in Graphic Design in the College of Fine Arts.

I began working at the Sanders Unified School District (SUSD#18) in September 2001. I began as a district substitute teacher before becoming the long-term sub in the Sanders Elementary School computer lab in March 2002. I was the SES computer long-term sub teacher for several years before I began working on my certification. I obtained my state of Arizona teaching certification in 2006 and have been at SUSD#18/SES ever since.

Hello, my name is Tyrone J. Joe. I am from the "One Who Walks Around" (Honaghaahnii) clan. I am born for the "Black Sheep" (Dibelizhini) clan. I was born and raised in Gallup, NM and graduated from Gallup High School (Bengals). I obtained coursework credits from the University of New Mexico-Gallup Campus in general studies before transferring to Arizona State University (Sundevils). At ASU, I majored in Graphic Design in the College of Fine Arts. Thereafter, I obtained coursework credits from the University of Phoenix, Northern Arizona University, and Rio Salado College to obtain my Arizona teaching certification. I have been in the SUSD district since 2001 as the SES computer teacher.

I was born and raised in Gallup, NM before moving to Houck, AZ in 1989. I lived in the Valley for 8 years, before moving back to Houck, AZ and beginning my employment with SUSD in 2001. In addition to my computer teaching I also coach the SES Hawks flag football and boys' basketball programs.

My hobbies include watching the NFL (Dallas Cowboys) games, art, graphics, fishing, camping, karaoke, playing guitar, playing sports (staff volleyball), working out, mountain biking, and spending time with family. My favorite music is hard rock and attending rock concerts. My favorite foods are shrimp, lobster, crab legs, fish, steaks, pizza and wings. I am an avid Apple Mac user and love my computer lab.

I grew up with artistic ability and was always reading Marvel and DC comic books. My love for music grew with the rock band KISS and it was a natural fit where I began combining my art and music. It was in high school and rock videos that I began to play guitar my senior year. I was self-taught and never learned music theory as I used tabulature notation as my means of learning. I took an intro to music course at ASU and it was there that I began to work with my voice and began my liking for karaoke. I tend to lean more towards the hard rock/falsetto songs such as Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, etc. although I do an occasional alternative, Beatles, pop, and country song I occasionally do.

Although this is just a scratch on the surface about myself, hopefully it provides you with some insight about who I am.

Mr. Joe
